We’re looking for a Tech Lead: Serverless who takes pride in their work and loves building things. The successful candidate will lead a small (< 3 person) development team composed of front-end (React) and full-stack developers (Node, AppSync, Lambda, Azure Functions). We’re looking for a tech lead who is friendly and helpful; an individual who enjoys writing serverless systems while mentoring other developers and performing code and architectural reviews.

 

Creating and maintaining a collaborative culture built on helping other teammates while learning new technologies and skills is a critical aspect of this role. We’re a relatively small team in a stable yet fast growing financial company. We are in the process of modernizing our stack and earlier this year launched a financial wellness app utilizing Ionic with a serverless infrastructure that uses GraphQL and Microservices (AWS Lambda/CloudFront Functions, AWS Cognito).

Responsibilities

Products we craft
Your team will be focused on many of our more consumer facing applications that drive revenue and significantly impact the business. Leveraging technology to improve a person’s financial life better is something you will do everyday. Learning something new everyday is something (we hope!) you will do as your build out your product and team. Some of our applications are custom developed in-house, and others integrate with SaaS products and Salesforce.

 

Technologies
We mainly develop in Node, JavaScript, and C#/.NET. Generally we engineer for the cloud using microservices in Azure and AWS. All of our infrastucture in AWS and Azure is deployed via Terraform.

Technologies we use include:

  • AWS AppSync and Lambda Functions
  • Dynamo DB
  • .Net Core 3.1 
  • Azure SQL Database and Cosmos DB
  • Azure App Service and Azure Functions

Tools we use
For managing our work we use Jira Kanban boards along with Confluence for documentation. We also use Slack and Zoom for video conferencing and VS Code for coding.

Qualifications

  • Expert level skills in Node.js (5+ years)
  • Experience launching and architecting microservicess on AWS or Azure
  • GraphQL Expertise
  • MS SQL or PostgreSQL or DynamoDB
  • Experience architecting and designing successful applications from scratch
  • Expertise writing to databases and handling concurrency, and scaling issues
  • Experience integrating CI/CD processes into an existing development team

Nice to Have

  • Expertise in Terraform including deploying the above infrastructure
  • Expertise in GitHub Actions
  • Mobile app or Serverless app development a plus
