Do you love numbers and finding the story in the numbers?  Does the thought of tackling a complex data issue make you smile?  Have you got a knack for solving problems?  Do you want to help drive the results of a multi-million dollar business?  If you have answered “yes” to these questions, the Business Information Specialist position at Strategic Financial Solutions may be the right fit for you.

Strategic Financial Solutions (SFS), a leading debt relief services company, was recently named one of the Best Companies to Work for in New York State for 2017.  Strategic placed 21st on the list, which ranks the highest rated work environments in the State based on independently gathered employee feedback.  In the last three years, Strategic has also been named twice as one of the 50 fastest growing companies in New York City and was also named to the Inc. 500 as one of the 500 fastest growing companies in the United States.

We are looking for a self-motivated Business Information Specialist who can own the data pipelines of our Analytics Department by architecting the flow of data out of applications and ensuring that the right data is available to facilitate analysis and empower business decisions. The Business Information Specialist will not spend entire days living in SQL or in applications. Instead, the ideal candidate can interact with senior management to understand the business asks, identify data risks (present and future) to delivering on those asks, and partner with business analysts to answer those questions efficiently. The Business Information Specialist should not just be a data wizard, but also have an interest for solving strategic business problems that span all areas of the company. Intellectual curiosity, ownership, and detail-orientation are requirements for the Analytics Department.

    • Manage data flows for all company applications to enable data-driven decision making
    • Identify and automate necessary quality checks to ensure continuous data accuracy across all systems
    • Work across departments and teams to resolve data inaccuracies and inconsistencies when they arise
    • Work across departments and teams to standardize data definitions and workflows, allowing for consistent nomenclature in both ad-hoc and recurring reporting
    • Work across departments and teams to develop a unified flow of key client data across systems and enable accurate insights into the customer life cycle
    • Partner with business analysts to identify data flow risks and hurdles to achieving efficient, real-time analyses and proactively overcome them
    • Identify opportunities for additional data collection to empower future business decisions, and partner with key stakeholders to design, develop, and deploy the new data collection

    • 2-3 years analytics experience in business analytics, statistics, or related field
    • Degree in Business, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or Analytics preferred
    • An analytical mindset: able to break down large problems, develop multiple approaches to solutions, and deliver data-driven insights
    • Proficiency in data modelling and data visualization (Power BI, Tableau, or similar tool) required
    • Continuous curiosity and a knack for solving problems
    • Obsession for details and organization
    • Confident to dialogue and able to debate data discovery insights
    • Ability to make the complex simple, and explain data through stories
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-driven organization
